Meet the CCFO Team

Timothy J. Ulfig
Managing Partner
Tim Ulfig is the Founder and Managing Partner. He actively demonstrates expertise and focus on the macro management of accomplished families and their personal and investment requirements. Mr. Ulfig is adept in family education and growth.
He previously held positions as Family Investment Officer with GenSpring Family Offices, Managing Partner with Epic Capital, Regional Director with UBS, Managing Director with a private single-family office and Vice President with Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Ulfig began his investment career in 1994 with Piper Jaffray. He received his BA and MBA at United States International University in San Diego, California and is a series 65 license holder.
With an ongoing desire to “give back”, he has served on the boards of Points for People and the American Heart Association-Denver. Mr. Ulfig resides in Denver, Colorado and enjoys life with his wife, Elizabeth, and their four daughters.

Corey McKiernan
Chief Investment Officer
Corey McKiernan is the Chief Investment Officer at CCFO where he advises high net worth families on traditional, alternative and direct investment opportunities.
Before joining CCFO in 2016, Mr. McKiernan was a Portfolio Manager at Portland House Partners, a multi-billion-dollar single family office, where he managed a global portfolio of investments. Prior to his involvement with family offices, he developed significant principal investing experience working at both hedge funds and private equity firms where he was responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities in both public and private markets.
Mr. McKiernan began his career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and Stephens Inc. where he analyzed, structured and executed mergers and acquisitions for companies across a variety of sectors.
Mr. McKiernan holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia Business School. He is a series 65 license holder.

Ben Novak
Chief Financial Officer
Ben Novak serves as CCFO’s Chief Financial Officer and utilizes his vast experiences in business and accounting to manage the back office of the organization and the complexities of each client family.
Mr. Novak has 35 years of progressive experience developing and managing the accounting and finance functions at multi-site retail, restaurant, communications and manufacturing companies. He also is an experienced senior management technology executive who is proficient in the design of accounting and back-office processes and in the deployment of enabling technologies.
Previously, Mr. Novak held senior accounting and technology positions at Blockbuster Entertainment, Boston Market, Einstein Bros. Bagels and Chipotle Mexican Grill. He also has significant experience in the cable/broadband and manufacturing industries.
Mr. Novak began his accounting career with KPMG in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Novak graduated from North Texas State University with a BS and MS in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (license inactive).

Chris McPartlan
Vice President
Chris McPartlan is the Vice President at CCFO where he’s integral to the investment team in managing current investments and sourcing/underwriting new investments.
Mr. McPartlan joined CCFO from Resource Land Holdings, a $500m real estate private equity fund manager based in Denver, CO. As a Senior Research Analyst, he was involved in underwriting and carrying out due diligence on buy and sell side investments across various real estate asset classes. He was the lead analyst on an investment team that closed a combined $85m in buy-side real estate transactions and was responsible for co-managing a $50m portfolio. Prior to Resource Land Holdings, Mr. McPartlan worked with Red Rocks Capital, a private equity firm in Denver, where he was responsible for generating and maintaining financial models for current and prospective portfolio companies.
Mr. McPartlan earned his B.S.B.A. from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he graduated at the top of his class with an emphasis in Finance and Real Estate. He is a series 65 license holder. As continuing education, Mr. McPartlan is pursuing his CCIM real estate designation, which is the gold standard in real estate finance and investment analysis.

Wilson Abshire
Investment Analyst
Wilson Abshire is the newest member of CCFO’s investment team, where he assists in managing current investments, sourcing/underwriting new investments, and maintaining the firm’s various databases.
Wilson joined the CCFO investment team immediately following his Spring 2021 graduation from the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Leeds School of Business, where he earned his B.S.B.A with an emphasis in Finance, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship. While in school, Wilson interned at Saoradh Enterprise Partners, a Boulder cleantech-focused venture capital firm, where he played a central role in raising the seed round for a Colorado-based portfolio company. Before that, he interned at a private wealth management firm in Littleton and helped scale a Boulder startup in the event space.

Emily Weber, CPA
Accountant
Emily has over 15 years of experience successfully managing accounting functions for corporations in a variety of industries including financial services and real estate.
She began her career in public accounting at Ernst & Young and has an impressive track record in the corporate accounting sector. Integrity, consistency, and efficiency are values that have directed Emily throughout her career.
Emily holds a BS in Accounting from Iowa State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. When Emily is away from the office she enjoys cooking, exercising and spending time with her husband and two children.

Susan Hollon, CPA, MBA
Accountant
Susan manages the accounting and financial activities for several CCFO families and focuses on providing the highest level of customer service. She has over 15 years of professional accounting experience in various industries including real estate, manufacturing, and not-for-profit.
Susan holds an accounting degree from the University of Wyoming and an MBA, with an emphasis in Finance, from Southern Methodist University. She is a dedicated professional and member of the Colorado State Society of CPAs and American Institute of CPAs.

JT Nyvold, CPA
Accountant
JT began his career in public accounting at KPMG where he served a variety of public and private clients in the investment, asset management, and life science industries. Additionally, JT has finance experience at a publicly traded company and led the accounting function at a start up in Denver.
JT holds a Masters in Accounting from The University of Colorado Boulder and is a Certified Public Accountant. JT is a Colorado native and enjoys everything the state has to offer. When he is away from the office, he enjoys golfing, skiing, cooking, and traveling.

Carly Kempf, CPA
Accountant (Oil & Gas)
Carly is CCFO’s oil and gas accountant, where she manages and helps families track, invest and account for oil & gas assets.
Carly is a Certified Public Accountant and earned her Master’s in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder. During her studies, she gained experience working for a private wealth management firm. Upon completing her master’s program, she discovered her passion in the oil and gas industry. Carly has worked for both public and private operators in a variety of roles, providing her with diverse experiences and a thorough understanding of oil and gas accounting.
Carly has also worked internationally in France and Vanuatu at a public accounting/consulting firm, working in English, French, and Bislama. Outside of work she enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and traveling.

Michaele Berger
Accountant
As CCFO’s accountant, Michaele Berger manages ongoing financial records and activities for CCFO, its member families and associated individuals and employees. Her primary duties include preparation and review of financial statements, month end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing.
Michaele enjoys bringing a can-do attitude to the office, nurtured by her previous work as an accountant with Jones Media Networks and Orange Glo International, where she served as International Accountant. She has been with CCFO for nearly ten years and holds a BS in Finance from the University of Colorado Denver.

Kate Walker
Office Manager & Executive Assistant
Kate’s roles at CCFO include Executive Assistant to Tim Ulfig, Office Manager, and Receptionist. She assists the CCFO Team with a wide variety of back-office support.
Kate grew up in Iowa before spending some time on the east coast. She graduated from Bucknell University in 2019 with degrees in Psychology and Education, and then received a Master of Sports Leadership degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Outside of the office, Kate enjoys running, reading, and meeting new people.
